Will Happen, who Carolyn Conley purchased for Abbondanza Racing LLC at the OBS March 2-year-old in Training Sale, rolled to a 4 ½-length debut win over the Del Mar turf course on Aug. 24 to become the latest ‘TDN Rising Star’.
Will Happen, a daughter of leading second-crop sire Vekoma, was bred in Kentucky by Loren Nichols.
Will Happen looked much the best at every point of the five-furlong sprint. Well in hand with a one-length lead after a quarter-mile, she began to draw away from the field midway through the turn. She finished decisively in :57.61 over the firm turf course.
Conley scouted the dark bay filly at OBS March and purchased her for $210,000 for the racing partnership led by attorney and horseman Bing Bush. Will Happen is trained in California by Richard Baltas.
